Hemlock 1/2x4 Vertical Grain V-Groove Paneling

Description

This hemlock tongue-and-groove panelling is milled to a 1/2" × 4" profile with a vertical grain orientation and a V-joint on both edges of the smooth face. Vertical grain means the growth rings run perpendicular to the board face, which gives the wood exceptional dimensional stability in the heat and humidity cycles of a sauna environment — it expands and contracts more predictably than flat-sawn stock, reducing the risk of cupping or gapping over time.

The tongue-and-groove profile locks adjacent boards together during installation, eliminating visible fasteners on the face and creating a continuous, clean surface. The V2E detail — V-joint on two edges — adds a subtle shadow line at each board joint, giving finished walls and ceilings a refined, intentional look. Clear Grade A+ selection means the face you see is free of the knots and defects that can weaken thinner panelling stock.

Boards are available in nine lengths — 1 through 10 feet — so you can plan your layout to minimise waste whether you are running horizontal courses on a long wall or vertical panels on a ceiling. We recommend purchasing mixed lengths to suit your specific room dimensions rather than cutting everything down from a single length.

Key Features

• Vertical grain milling — growth rings perpendicular to the face mean the board expands and contracts more uniformly through repeated heat-and-humidity cycles, keeping joints tight over years of use.
• V-joint on two edges of the smooth face — the angled detail at each board seam creates a defined shadow line that adds visual depth and disguises any minor seasonal movement at the joint.
• Tongue-and-groove profile — interlocking edges distribute wood movement across the entire panel assembly and allow blind nailing, keeping fasteners out of sight.
• Clear Grade A+ — face defects have been sorted out at the mill, so every board you install presents a clean surface with no knots or checks to interrupt the finished wall.
• Hemlock species — naturally low resin content means the wood does not bleed or discolour at sauna temperatures, and its thermal characteristics keep the surface comfortable against skin.
• 1/2x4 nominal profile — a proven thickness for sauna wall and ceiling panelling that provides structural rigidity without adding unnecessary thermal mass to the room.

1'

• 1-foot length — useful for filling short runs, framing around vents or fixtures, and minimising waste when cutting to fit tight spaces.

3'

• 3-foot length — suited to lower sections of walls, bench fascia, and areas where a shorter board reduces off-cut waste.

4'

• 4-foot length — a versatile mid-range size that works well on ceiling panels and accent walls with moderate spans.

5'

• 5-foot length — covers standard wall heights in smaller sauna cabins with fewer end joints on a run.

6'

• 6-foot length — matches common stud-bay heights, allowing full-length runs on many walls without a horizontal seam.

7'

• 7-foot length — accommodates taller interior heights where a 6-foot board would fall short and require a mid-wall joint.

8'

• 8-foot length — covers standard 8-foot ceiling or wall heights in a single board, eliminating end joints on most residential sauna builds.

9'

• 9-foot length — suited to taller custom sauna rooms where standard 8-foot boards would require a seam.

10'

• 10-foot length — maximises coverage on long ceiling or wall runs, reducing the total number of end joints and keeping the installation visually clean.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

LUMBER CURBSIDE FREIGHT — QUOTED

Lumber ships curbside freight. The quote is based on the amount of lumber ordered. Our team will provide a freight quote after checkout.

This is the only shipping option when the order includes lumber, including an order that also has a heater. Checkout does not offer another shipping choice on that order.

CURBSIDE

The driver brings the lumber to ground level. Boards over 8 feet ship on a pallet and may need a dock or hand offload. That is part of the quote. We confirm access before it ships.
