General rule of thumb: If you're expecting 1-5 plungers per day, the Standard will work great. If you're expecting 5+ plungers per day it's recommended you upgrade to the Pro model.
What's the difference between the two?
- The Pro model has a larger pump and compressor motor, and can handle repetitive use with limited recovery time so that your plunge is always clean and cold.
*Please note the Lite model is intended for indoor or controlled environments only, and is not recommend for outdoor use.
Filters:
Plan for filter replacements every 20 plunges. Replacement filters are widely available on Amazon and cost around $6/per.
Energy Costs:
Cold plunges are comparable to a mini fridge. The units run 7-10amps depending on the chiller model. If possible, we encourage you to give the plunge 8 hours of downtime per day (ie. 3pm-4am). It'll only take about an hour to get back to temp in controlled environments.
Draining/Refill:
The tubs range from 130-150 gallons of water. Draining & refill costs average around $2-$3. The chiller also acts as a drain pump, making filling/draining a breeze and the easiest way to handle water maintenance.
Chemicals:
Your upfront chemical costs is around $150, the bulk of which should last you 6-12 months. We highly endorse utilizing a water conditioner that costs $4 and used on every refill. It will help you extend the need for refills. All of the chemicals we endorse can be found in our Amazon Storefront for convenience. Detailed chemical instructions, videos, and FaceTime support are provided with every order.
Showering Before Plunging:
If you have the ability to enforce a quick shower rinse before people use the plunge this will dramatically reduce the need for refills, filter replacements, and chemicals. If enforced you may be able to go months without a refill, thus reducing the costs of ownership significantly.
